Error "ZyIndexImport # -25: Failed to set fields on document." when trying to modify field values in ZyFIND

SYMPTOMS

You get the error message "ZyIndexImport # -25: Failed to set fields on document." when trying to modify field values in ZyFIND.

CAUSE

Corrupt index settings file. This could for instance be due to ZyTIMER service being repeatedly stopped.

RESOLUTION

The index settings file in "ZyLAB Data\Indexes\<Index Name>\settings.txt".
Before opening this file in a text editor, it is important that you create a backup copy.

Check that the index settings file does not contain any lock.
                     
The 'General' section of the file should look like this:

[General]
SynchronizeFieldsDSN=
LockUser=
LockName=
LockPid=0

Verify that the index settings file does not contain any left-over data.

The file should end right after the "LockPid=0" line of the 'General' section.
Should you find other lines after this, you can delete it.
