SYMPTOMS
You want to know what Audio files will be played in-browser when using a ZyLAB Web Client.
CAUSE
Not applicable
RESOLUTION
The audio file types a browser can play internally depend solely on the browser. The users should click on the "Launch in original application" button in the ZyLAB Web Client, or the document's link. The behavior then changes depending on the browser. We suggest using Internet Explorer, MP3, WAV and WMA files will be played in-browser.
Here below a list of expected behaviors for the current version of most popular supported internet browsers.
Internet Explorer 11
When clicking on the document link Internet Explorer will use the Windows Media Player plugin to play the file in-browser. This will also work for video files.
Also you can set Windows Media Player or any other media player of your choice as default media player in Windows. Once you do that the media player of your choice will be automatically launched when the users click on the "Launch in original application" button.
- Access Default Programs snap-in from Windows Control Panel.
- Click on Set program access and computer defaults.
- Expand the Custom section.
- Scroll down to Choose a default media player.
- Select the media player of your choice.
- Click OK.
Firefox 27
By default it plays MP3 files in-browser. A separate plugin, supporting up to Windows 7, can be installed to use Windows Media Player in-browser. This is not a ZyLAB solution, please refer to the following Mozilla knowledge base article.
Play Windows Media files in Firefox with the Windows Media plugin (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/play-windows-media-files-in-firefox).
