An error is displayed when checking in a matter in Legal Processing: "MSDTC on server is unavailable." In the eDiscoveryDataService.Log, the following error is recorded: "MSDTC on server MYSERVER is unavailable".
This might be caused if Network DTC Access is not enabled.
The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator service (MSDTC) tracks all parts of the transactions process, even over multiple resource managers on multiple computers.
This helps ensure that the transaction is committed, if every part of the transaction succeeds, or is rolled back, if any part of the transaction process fails.
- Go to My Computer.
- Open the Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
- Go to the Properties section.
- Enable Network DTC Access.
- Perform a new matter check-in action.
