SYMPTOMS
Older versions of the software allowed Indexes to be created with the same name provided the index files were located in different folders. This creates operation issues for the current version of the software that enforces the requirement for every Index to have a unique short name.
CAUSE
No conflict was recognized while index files were located in different folders. Unique short name is now enforced.
RESOLUTION
Steps to recreate an index with a new short name:
- Open the index you want to recreate in ZyINDEX and note the Long name and Name (short name) of the index.
- Click on the Index settings button on the toolbar
- Click on the Modules tab. Note any modules you have selected for this index for example XML Wrapper). These will appear on the right side of the modules screen.
- Note the data folder location. (e.g. C:\ZyLAB Data\Index Data\myindex)
- Note any other special settings you have for the index.
- Close the index in ZyINDEX.
- With Windows Explorer go to the ?\Indexes? directory in the ?\ZyLAB Data? directory (e.g. c:\ZyLAB Data\Indexes).
- Copy the index directory you want to recreate (named as the short name of the index) to a backup directory such as myindex_bak.
- In ZyINDEX select File|NEW. The Create new index dialog comes up.
- Enter the new short name.
- Enter the new long name.
- Select Index wizard. Click [OK].
- Verify the Index directory matches the above directory.
- HAPI is the default indexing engine. The indexing engine can be changed to TBIE at this time, if desired. NOTE: Web clients configured with multiple indexes can only use indexes with the same indexing engine.
- Click [Next]. Add any modules you noted in step 3.
- Click [Next].
- Change the Standard data folder to the same location as recorded in step 4. This is the folder where the data being indexed is located.
- If you are indexing folders in addition to the standard data folder click on the Edit button next to Custom Data folders.
- Drag and drop folders to Text, Tiff and Electronic tabs as needed.
- When finished click OK.
- Click [Next].
- Verify settings page.
- Click [Next].
- If you had key fields defined, import them.\ Click Define next to Define fields and views.
- Click on Import Definitions.
- Browse to the FIELDS directory. (e.g. c:\ZyLAB Data\Indexes\myindex\FIELDS)
- Select the FIELDS.TXT file and click Open. The fields should be imported.
- Verify the fields are correct.
- Click [OK].
- Click [Next].
- Click [Finish].
- Build the index, selecting only the Add new documents option.
