SYMPTOMS
Many files with extension .frdat are found in the environmental TEMP location of the user running the ZyLAB Processing Service on one or more of the eDiscovery Bundle Processing Nodes. A number of these intermediate files are created for each OCRed page by the Global Professional OCR engine since version 2.2.
CAUSE
The .frdat files will not be deleted properly if the ZyLAB NT services and the ExceutePerformer processes were killed while processing. For instance this could occur if the Processing node was rebooted or experienced a general failure while processing.
RESOLUTION
The expected behavior in managing the .frdat intermediate files changes depending on the eDiscovery Bundle version.
- In eDiscovery Bundle 3.6 and 3.7 the intermediate .frdat files are normally deleted at the end of each Job.
- As of eDiscovery Bundle 3.7 Service Pack 1, these files are normally deleted at the end of each ExecutePerformer task. The amount of Tiff Producer actions that will be wrapped in a single ExecutePerformer task depends on Perfomer Settings configuration (pullsize).
It is safe to delete the .frdat files that are no longer in use.
APPLIES TO
3.6; 3.7; 3.7 Service Pack 1
