"The license system could not be properly initialized" error when launching ZyINDEX or ZyFIND on a workstation

SYMPTOMS

When launching ZyINDEX or ZyFIND on a workstation the "The license system could not be properly initialized" error occurs. ZyINDEX or ZyFIND can both be launched with no errors on the ZyLAB Server.

CAUSE

Information Management Platform installations point by default to a local copy of the ZyLAB Users location. If this is not accessible the error mentioned above occurs.

RESOLUTION

After installing Information Management Platform on a workstation, typically to serve as a scanning station, the new installation will point to the local copy of the ZyLAB Users location by default. In some deployments however, the ZyLAB Users location may be centralized and therefore not local to the scanning stations.

In this case, the location of the ZyLAB Users directory can be changed by modifying the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ZyLAB\ZyBUILD\Installed Components\Users\Preferences\Location" registry key.

Example: change from 'C:\ZyLAB Data\Users\' to '\\[SERVER_NAME]\ZyLAB Data\Users\'
