SYMPTOMS
The following error message appears when trying to scan with Twain drivers in ZySCAN. In the ZySCAN stage configuration window, the Scan Profile drop-down menu is grayed out and it is not possible to select a scan profile. "Please select a valid scan profile. Use the Scan Profiles editor to create scan profiles."
CAUSE
The scan profile was not created during installation as Twain drivers do not provide one, however ZySCAN requires it.
RESOLUTION
As a workaround, it is possible to manually create an empty profile file to continue with scanning:
- Windows Vista and later. Browse to the "C:\Program Data\ZyLAB\ZySCAN" folder.
- Windows XP and earlier. Browse to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ZyLAB\ZySCAN" folder.
- Create a folder called Scan Profiles. i.e. "C:\Program Data\ZyLAB\ZySCAN\Scan Profiles".
- Within the Scan Profiles folder, create an empty text file called Profiles.ini. i.e. "C:\Program Data\ZyLAB\ZySCAN\Scan Profiles\Profiles.ini".
- Restart ZySCAN.
