SYMPTOMS
The Exchange server cannot be found in the "Server Name" drop-down menu in the Configuration | Rules page. Mailboxes are never retrieved from the Exchange server. Event IDs 1325, 1026, and 1000 are reported in the Application log in Event Viewer on the Exchange server when navigating to the Configuration | Rules Exchange Connector webGUI.
CAUSE
.NET Framework 4.5.x is installed. This is a known issue with the Microsoft Exchange cmdlets and version 4.5 of the .NET Framework. If you have installed .NET Framework 4.5.x you will no longer be able to access the Microsoft Exchange cmdlets in PowerShell.
RESOLUTION
Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.x and install version 4.0.
- As an alternative it is possible to create a subscription for a mailbox by typing the mailbox exact alias in the "Display Name" field in the Configuration | Rules page.
- The system will retrieve this mailbox and the subscription registration will succeed.
- In this case the "Cannot validate argument on parameter 'Session' message appears. (The argument is null.)
- Supply a non-null argument and perform the command again in case the error still appears in the RuleResultsPage.aspx page
